Pierce is a somewhat new property for Barbarians to consider (although it has been present on the Warshrike throwing knives for years). Some ranged classes struggle with mana, particularly in early Hell levels, so this is a great item to have during this time. This is definitely a ranged-class item, and a lot of desirable properties such as Crushing Blow and Open Wounds only work at a fraction of their effectiveness on ranged weapons as compared to melee attacks. Wisdom's weaknesses primarily comprise a "wish list" rather than true weaknesses. At level 45, it's a great midgame helm that can be rebuilt later for endgame. Even taking this aside, it has plenty of other good things going for it in a weak category there are only a small handful Helm Runewords and other than the low-level Lore and Dream, few deliver much in the way of great properties.
